Cookie policy
Last updated: 30 June 2026
This policy describes the use of cookies and similar technologies (local storage, pixels) on the website gate-ia.be, in accordance with the ePrivacy directive and the GDPR. It is valid for the whole of the Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg), the framework being common to the European Union.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small file placed on your device by a website. Similar technologies (browser local storage, pixels) can fulfil comparable roles. A distinction is made between strictly necessary cookies (essential to operation and security, exempt from consent) and non-essential cookies (audience measurement, advertising, social networks), which require your prior consent.
2. What the website actually uses
| Element | Type | Purpose | Consent | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
gateia_lang | Local storage (browser) | Remember the language you choose | Not required (functional) | Until deleted by you |
| Possible security cookie of the hosting provider (Cloudflare) | Strictly necessary | Security and protection against abuse | Not required (exempt) | Short duration |
The gateia_lang key remains on your device, is not transmitted to a third party, and serves only your browsing comfort. The website hosts its own fonts and integrates no third-party content (no Google Fonts via CDN, no embedded video or map, no social network button), which allows it to remain free of tracking cookies.
3. Audience measurement
The website currently deploys no audience measurement tool. If we were to add one, it would be a privacy-friendly solution, without cookies or identifying personal data (e.g. Plausible or Umami), without profiling — and this page would be updated accordingly. If one day a tool placing non-essential cookies were introduced, a compliant consent banner (opt-in, refusal as simple as acceptance) would be put in place.
4. Managing and deleting
You can at any time view, block or delete cookies and local storage via your browser settings (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge…). Blocking strictly necessary elements may affect the operation of the website.
